Born in 1997, Damascus-Syria, and based in Rotterdam - the Netherlands.
Working with documentary images of violence and victims, whether they are highly produced documentaries, news images, or low-resolution phone footage, some of these images get penetrated by bullets and shrapnel to start leaking fiction into the battlefield, fiction that gets mixed with violence and gets captured by yet another documenting camera. Omarleen researches the poetics and politics of images by investigating how the documentary form documents a reality that questions its truthfulness.

Omarleen is a sound artist and singer, designing sound for films, creating sound installations, and doing live improvisation with other musicians and sound artists. Omarleen's sounds are influenced by and in a conversation/conflict with Arabic Maqams,(Sufi Hadras حضرة , Ibtihalat ابتهالات , latmyat لطميات), pop songs and other sounds and noises from the SWANA region.
